Hachiriki

I have been fortunate in my martial art training.  Although my core style is Shotokan, I have trained in various styles, and under many high ranking instructors.

In 2017, on a trip to Japan, I was introduced to Master Kenjiro Kawanabe (Atsugi Japan) by Sensei Sada Honda.

Kawanabe Karate-do's major influences were from Funakoshi Sensei, Inoue Sensei,

and Okuyama Sensei.  Resulting in a unique flow of energy by connecting mind, body, and spirit.    Sensei calls it Hachiriki.

After training under Sensei Eli Curiel (Tucson AZ) I came to understand that Hachiriki principles are easily applied to most, if not all, styles of Karate-do.

My next few blogs will introduce principles I feel help in understanding Traditional Karate-do no matter the style.
